24th Christmas Market
and 8th New Year's Market Schloß Schönbrunn
18 November to 26 December 2017
27 December 2017 to 1 January 2018
From 18 November the former summer residence of the Habsburgs will again provide the setting for the Schönbrunn Christmas Market. Visitors will be able to stroll around and enjoy a vast range of handicrafts, Christmas decorations and Austrian cuisine offered in the eighty or so festively decorated booths. Items include hand-carved manger figures, Baroque Christmas decorations and pewter figures, as well as Christmas ceramics, hand-made paper and bee’s wax products. Twelve food stands will offer delicacies like warming mulled wine and punch and sweet and savoury Austrian specialities.
The 23rd Schönbrunn Christmas Market will once again feature traditional handicrafts. This year for the first time, olive wood products from Bethlehem will supplement the customary high-quality assortment. Palestinian craftsmen have formed an association called Bethlehem Treasures Cluster to keep up the traditions of their homeland. A selection of crib figures and wood carvings in the form of angels or crosses can be seen in Schönbrunn from 19 November 2016 to 1 January 2017. The show is a cooperation between the organisers MTS Wien and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
